Paver Sealer Stripping in Bonita Springs, FL
A lot of Bonita Springs pavers have a long history. A driveway in an older neighborhood may have been sealed by three different owners with three different products, and nobody remembers what any of them were. Closer to the water, salt air and storm flooding add to the wear. By the time we're called, the surface usually looks blotchy, hazy or dark, or the sealer is peeling. I'm Aaron Kochheiser. I've been doing this work in Southwest Florida since 2010, and we serve Bonita Springs from our base in Fort Myers.

Why old sealer fails in Bonita Springs
- Years of buildup. Every new coat adds another layer. Over time, the buildup goes uneven, looking darker and shinier in protected spots and dull and worn where cars and foot traffic hit it.
- Unknown products. On older homes and resales, the sealer history is often a mystery. Different products layered on top of each other don't always get along, and peeling or clouding is the result.
- Coastal humidity and salt. Homes near the Gulf and the bay sit in damp, salty air that wears coatings down and makes them prone to whitening.
- Flood and storm water. Where water has stood on pavers or pushed up through the joints, sealer can cloud, lift or stain. Before resealing, it's worth checking whether the base was affected too.
- Patched sections. Pavers replaced after storm damage, root lifts or plumbing work and then sealed separately rarely match the original surface.
Not all whitening is a sealer problem. Mineral deposits can look a lot like it. Our post on why pavers turn white after sealing explains the difference.
Our stripping process
Assess what's there. We visually inspect the finish to confirm where it's failing and how heavy the buildup is, and build the stripping process from that. Any history you have, like old invoices, product names or dates, helps, but you don't need it.
Plan the job. We go over access, nearby plants, pool areas and anything sensitive, plus HOA or gate requirements if your community has them.
Strip the coating. We use a removal method suited to the coating and the paver. Heavy, multi-layer buildup can take more than one pass.
Rinse, clean and dry. We rinse the residue away, clean the surface and let the pavers dry before anything else goes on.
Repair if needed. Stripping often shows problems the old coating was hiding, like loose edges, sunken spots and broken pavers. Our Bonita Springs paver repair service handles those before we reseal.
Re-sand and reseal. We fill the joints with polymeric sand and apply a fresh finish. See paver sealing in Bonita Springs for how that step works.
Stripping takes off the old coating, but it won't reverse every bit of fading, chipping or deep staining in older pavers. We'll tell you what to expect before we start.

Bonita Springs paver stripping FAQs
I have no idea what sealer was used before. Can you still strip it?
Yes. Most homeowners don't know. We look at how the coating behaves and choose a removal approach to match.
Our pavers flooded, and now the sealer is cloudy and peeling. What should we do?
Have the surface looked at before resealing. We'll check whether the base or joints were affected, strip the failing coating and fix any settled areas before a new finish goes down.
Can you strip only part of the driveway?
It's possible, but stripping only one section often leaves a visible line where it meets the old finish. Usually it looks best to strip and reseal the whole connected surface. We'll show you the options.
How long does it take?
That depends on the size of the area, how much buildup there is and the weather, since the pavers have to dry before resealing. We'll give you a realistic timeline after we see the surface.
