Paver Sealer Stripping in Estero, FL
In an Estero community where every driveway is supposed to look the same, a cloudy, peeling or overly glossy finish sticks out. Sometimes the HOA sends a letter. Sometimes you come back after the summer and the sealer has turned white over the whole lanai. Either way, the answer is usually to take the old coating off, not to pile more on top. I'm Aaron Kochheiser. I've been stripping and sealing pavers since 2010, and we're based in Fort Myers, a short drive north of Estero.

What we see on Estero pavers
- Whitening and cloudiness. Sealer that went on over damp pavers, or that trapped moisture during the rainy season, can turn milky or hazy. Pool decks and lanais under screen cages are usually the worst.
- Peeling and flaking. Coatings that have aged or were applied too heavily start lifting, especially where cars turn and park on the driveway.
- A finish the HOA doesn't want. Some communities prefer a natural look, while a previous owner or contractor may have gone with a high-gloss wet look. Stripping lets you reset to whatever your association allows.
- Mismatched sections. Repaired areas, driveway extensions and replaced pavers that were sealed at different times can leave a patchwork of sheens.
- Damage that shows up while you're away. Many Estero homeowners are seasonal. Summer heat, rain and irrigation work on the finish for months, and the problem often shows up all at once when you get back.
Some stains, like orange marks from irrigation water or rust, aren't a sealer problem, and stripping alone may not remove them. We'll tell you what we think is causing the discoloration before recommending anything. Our blog post on why pavers turn white after sealing is a good primer.
How we strip and reseal in Estero
Check the coating and the rules. We visually inspect the existing finish to confirm how it's failing and build the stripping process from that. If you have any HOA guidelines on driveway or pool deck finishes, send them so the new finish fits.
Plan access. Send gate instructions, vendor requirements and, if you'll be away, the name of the person who can let us in.
Remove the old sealer. We use a removal method suited to the coating and the paver, and built-up or stubborn areas get extra attention.
Rinse, clean and dry. We rinse off the residue, clean the surface and give the pavers time to dry before anything new goes down.
Re-sand and reseal. We fill the joints with polymeric sand and apply the finish you choose. See paver sealing in Estero for more on finish options and how often to reseal.
Travertine is different. Many Estero pool decks are travertine, not concrete pavers. Natural stone needs its own approach to removal and sealing, so let us know what you have. Our travertine and stone maintenance service covers it.
If the surface also has sunken or broken pavers, it makes sense to fix them before resealing. See our Estero paver repair page.

Estero paver stripping FAQs
My HOA wants a natural look, but the driveway was sealed with a glossy finish. Can you change it?
Yes. Stripping removes the old finish, and then we reseal with whatever your association approves. Check your guidelines first and share them with us.
Can you do the work while I'm up north?
Yes. Set up access through your gate or property manager, send us photos, and we'll keep you updated on the job.
Will stripping make my pavers look new again?
It removes the failing coating, but it can't undo every bit of fading, chipping or deep staining in the pavers themselves. We'll walk you through realistic expectations first.
Can you strip sealer from a travertine pool deck?
Natural stone is handled differently from concrete pavers. We'll assess the travertine and use an approach suited to stone.
