Paver Sealer Stripping in Naples, FL

A driveway that's turned milky white after the rainy season. A lanai where the sealer is flaking off in patches. A high-gloss finish your Naples HOA now says doesn't fit the community look. Another coat on top won't fix any of these. The old sealer has to come off first. I'm Aaron Kochheiser. Paver Savers & Concrete, LLC has been stripping and sealing pavers since 2010, based in Fort Myers and working across Collier County.

Signs your Naples pavers need stripping

  • White, hazy or cloudy sealer. Moisture trapped under a coating turns it milky. Screened pool decks and shaded entries are often the worst.
  • Peeling and flaking. Aged or heavily applied coatings lift where cars turn, under planters and along pool edges.
  • A finish the HOA doesn't allow. Some Naples communities want a natural look; a past owner may have chosen a wet-look gloss. Stripping resets the surface so it can be resealed to the approved finish.
  • Patchwork sheen. Repairs, extensions and replaced pavers sealed at different times leave uneven gloss.
  • Built-up layers. Years of coats on top of coats look dark and blotchy and trap dirt.

Some stains, like orange irrigation marks or rust, aren't a sealer problem, and stripping alone may not remove them. We'll tell you what we think is causing the discoloration first. Our post on why pavers turn white after sealing explains more.

How we strip and reseal in Naples

We visually inspect the existing sealer to see how it's failing and where it's built up, and plan the stripping process from that. Then we remove the old coating with a method suited to the coating and the paver, giving built-up spots extra attention.

After stripping, we rinse, clean and let the pavers dry. Then we re-sand the joints with polymeric sand and reseal with the highest quality two-part water-based urethane sealer, in the finish your HOA approves. You can walk on it after one hour and drive on it the next day.

Travertine pool decks are common in Naples and need a stone-specific approach. See travertine and stone maintenance. If the surface also has sunken or broken pavers, fix them before resealing. See paver repair in Naples.

How a Naples stripping job works

  1. Send photos and your HOA rules. Show the whole surface and the worst spots, and share any finish guidelines.

  2. Visual inspection. We look at the existing sealer on site to see how it's failing and plan the removal.

  3. Remove the old sealer. A removal method matched to the coating and the paver.

  4. Rinse, clean and dry. Residue off, surface clean, pavers dry before anything new goes down.

  5. Re-sand and reseal. Polymeric sand, then a two-part water-based urethane sealer in your approved finish. Read more in Naples paver sealing.

What our customers say

Aaron is the greatest guy with a amazing work ethic. He goes above and beyond and catches problems with other items at the house and has the knowledge to fix them. Couldn’t be happier and I am super picky. Our pool area was so moldy looks so good.

Christine M.

Aaron and his team always does an excellent job. I had him out about 5 years ago to do some extensive repairs to my pool deck and seal it. Because of the great job done then, I called him back to come out to clean and seal my pavers. Just like the first time, great job done at a reasonable price. …

Naples paver stripping FAQs

How do you know if my sealer needs to be stripped?

We visually inspect the existing sealer. Whitening, cloudiness, peeling, flaking and heavy build-up are the main signs that it has failed and should come off before resealing.

My HOA wants a natural look, but the pavers have a glossy finish. Can you change it?

Yes. Stripping removes the old finish, and then we reseal in the finish your association approves. Share your guidelines with us first.

What do you reseal with after stripping?

We only use the highest quality two-part water-based urethane sealers.

How soon can we use the pavers after resealing?

You can walk on freshly sealed pavers after one hour, and vehicles can go back on the driveway the next day.

Will stripping make my pavers look new?

It removes the failing coating, but it can't undo every bit of fading or deep staining in the pavers themselves. If color is the issue, ask about paver restoration, which can include recoloring.
